Becoming a proficient practicing attorney can be a real challenge in today’s environment.

I am challenged to overcome the following behaviors:

• Not enough time to follow through on referred leads
• Lack of Inventory Controls – No systems in place to make, handle and follow up on leads and referrals
• Failure to generate a constant supply of new case leads
• Too specialized to handle the variety of leads that are developed
• Won’t handle matters that are not serious enough- not a big enough case- cuts off further client referrals
• Making referrals and failing to keep track
• Not making referrals because the attorney does not know who to refer the matter to and not keeping track of colleagues’ skills and case interests
• Lack of easy, “on the fly” method of intake and referral

I need to have a technology solution that works the way I work.
Everything on the market seems to dance around my core issues. Nothing is all-inclusive. So I find myself patch working through my work day.

I have several makeshift systems to address one problem or another, but it just seems to create more record keeping and tracking that causes me to be less efficient in other core areas of my business, because of the time involved with cross-checking and going over the same issues again and again.

I’m not alone in this dilemma. These problem behaviors are a necessary fact of practicing in the field of law. It comes with the territory. Every honest self-assessing attorney knows where I’m coming from. You understand the issue at hand. Practicing law is a detail-oriented business and a lawyer needs to be on top of their game at all times.

I’m not going to hide from my problem behaviors or refuse to acknowledge they exist. Rather, I’m going to find a better way, to lead the way, in resolving these important issues.
